May the horse be with you

Look at me! I'm on a horse

The Icelandic horse is a very particular and gentle creature, that has been stuck on this island since it was first brought by the Norse settlers. Small, curious and good natured, with a thick coat and a fluffy mane, it is an excellent companion for those who are not experienced equestrians. At first it seems to convey contradicting sentiments, as if it is trying to tell you: I would like to be your best friend but I´m scared shitless of people like you. Usually it quickly lets go of its skepticism and if it lets you scratch its nostrils you may have won its heart forever. From the Laxnes horse farm in Mosfellsdalur he will show you the ropes and take you on a tour around the valley and if you´re lucky we might be able to teach you how to have your colt or filly perform the two unique gaits of the Icelandic horse: Tölt and Skeið. Once you return, with a mildly bruised behind, we might even give you the lowdown on the nearest hoedown.
